The content management system is so good, web design firm Tailormade4you is unsure why everyone with a website isn’t using it.

Concentrating on the benefits Joomla hosting offers for businesses maintaining websites once they have been set up, the web hosting interface wins out.

The web design firm believes that whether it is adding new pages of content, updating information or publishing the latest piece of news, using Joomla is far better option than building a website from scratch.

Joomla has been keen to adapt its system to accommodate the demands of community users.

In a post on the Joomla Coordinator Blog, Kenneth Crowder explained that the new Joomla 1.6 alpha 2 release contains a number of requested features, including access control list (ACLs), an extended user profile and a new uploader for media manager.

Writing for CMSWire, professional search engine optimisation and Joomla consultant Kristoffer Sandven reported that the new version of Joomla will have a significantly enhanced internal security system.

Administrators will be able to set up groups and assign content as well as functionality to them, he explained.

Mr Kristoffer gave the example of a group that can produce articles, weblinks and almost anything one can create on Joomla. By giving users in such a group global "create" permission, but not the "edit state" one, administrators can prevent them from publishing the content, he added.

Writing on the Joomla blog, Ron Severdia recently admitted that the organisation has not been particularly forthcoming with keeping its milestones for version 1.6. He said this is partly because they have been discussing various new features that could make their way onto the new Joomla system.

The organisation said that now is the time to be celebrating its successes after the news of Access Control Lists (ACL) implemented in Joomla 1.6 and the growth of all parts of the Joomla Project.

It named a number of achievements the Joomla community has reached, including more than 1,000 sites in the Site Showcase and close to 13 million downloads.

Web hosting users can also vote for best extension and best template as well as nominate someone who you think is a Joomla Most Valuable Player.

The company thanked everyone who nominated Joomla for the Best Open Source PHP CMS Award.

Joomla! project contributors can also be nominated as Open Source MVPs and voting will continue until September 11th.

Voting among the top five nominees will start on September 18th.

Joomla! believes it has had a very positive year with the Production Working Group releasing the alpha of Joomla! 1.6 and the beta version on the way soon.

It has additionally passed 11 million downloads, while the Site Showcase and Joomla! Resources Directory sites were launched.

Joomla! is also one of the participants in the new Hall of Fame category.

This category will have sub-category awards for the top extensions and themes, which will be nominated by the CMS’s representatives.
