Web hosting users ‘set to see positive PC signs’
November 25th, 2009As web hosting users continue to deal with the difficult economic pressures of the current time, it seems that the PC market has had to do the same. However, there are positive signs.
A recent Gartner report has projected that the global PC market is set to see 2.8 per cent growth this year, although there will be a notable drop in revenue of 10.7 per cent. This will be because of an industry-wide fall in PCs’ average selling prices.
Global PC shipments are set to hit 298.9 million units in 2009 and Gartner has predicted this figure will hit 336.6 million in 2010, accounting for a 12.6 per cent increase over 2009.
The organisation also stated that Windows 7 is not expected to be a deciding factor in PC sales growth.
"Notebooks are rapidly replacing desktops in the consumer and profession segments," commented Natalie Spitz, senior analyst at Canalys. She also suggested that netbooks will be challenged by other devices.
