Gartner: 2009 and 2010 make or break for IT careers
November 4th, 2009Many web hosting users will recognise that we have been through unprecedented times recently. Now, according to Gartner, 2009 and 2010 will be the years that could make or break a career in IT.
Now is the time that businesses will need to decide if they will keep their current IT activities going or if they will move in a different direction.
Ken McGee, vice president and Gartner fellow, commented: "We urge organisations to exploit this unusual opportunity to question the efficacy of their IT business practices and determine whether those practices warrant change."
He stressed that firms need to act immediately, as once business growth returns they will be very busy and it will be too late in the day to make any alterations.
Last month, Gartner predicted that the IT industry will return to growth in 2010, when spending in the sector will amount to $3.3 trillion (£2 trillion), accounting for a 3.3 per cent rise from this year.
