Domain name bought for $770,000

A domain name has been sold for $770,000 (£455,110), it has been reported, which may shock those looking into cheap web hosting.

Domain brokerage Sedo has sold Server.com for over three-quarters of a million dollars , according to Domain Name Wire.

The news provider cited Compete.com, which claimed that the domain name gets more than 12,000 unique visitors per month.

Sedo also sold Jesus.net for $124,337 (£73,490), while MotorcycleInsurance.org went for $34,000 (£20,096) and Cloud.me for $22,500 (£13,299).

The domain brokerage has over 690,000 members across the globe who trade domains in more than 21 languages, which may interest people looking into shared web hosting services.

Sedo offers the biggest selection of premium domains in the world with over 11.5 million available to buy.

In recent domain name news, Candy.com was recently sold for $3 million (£1.77 million).

G&J Holdings, run by cousins Joe Melville and Greg Balestrieri, was the buyer.
